A Brief History Of Goa maritime school operated under Capt of ports department
-
Goa Maritime school operated by the Captain of Ports Department was unique of its kind located at Britona, Bardez Goa. The institute was inaugurated in 1972 by then chief minister of Goa. The institute was set up to meet the manpower requirement for Inland Vessels and other categories of transport and mechanized vessels. The institute was conducting mainly two types of courses.
While the maritime sector was growing steadily over the years, the school could not meet the expectation and a need was felt for skilled manpower in the sector. Reskilling and upskilling are the main focus of the time. Hence it was felt to revamp and redevelop the existing maritime school at Britona into a world class center of excellence for maritime education.
In order to bring best practices and know-how from the industry the Government of Goa decided to pursue the redevelopment of the maritime school via public private partnership (PPP) mode.
Ganpat University has been mandated by the Government of Goa to redevelop the existing maritime school into a world class maritime school.
